The Emerging Artist Program offers the opportunity to study with internationally renowned Italian and American teachers, coaches, and conductors; perform in A Night of Opera and Musical Theater with Serenata Orchestra; perform featured roles in Dido and Aeneas & Aeterna (by audition only); and take part in lectures, masterclasses, and private coachings. The Emerging Artist Program is directed by Michele Detwiler and provides opportunities for singers to receive training and connections to some of the world’s most prestigious theaters, universities and conservatories.

Emerging Artists singers vary in age and experience but typically are still in their early stages of education and training. This year’s Emerging Artist Season is directed by acclaimed mezzo-soprano Michele Detwiler and includes a unique partnership with The New Voice Festival’s Composers Studio, directed by Jake Landau, through which selected Emerging Artists will workshop and premiere new works. The 2024 season includes:

 

DIDO AND AENEAS & AETERNA
Presenting a new concept designed and directed, by drammaturg Andrea DelGiudice depicting the operas during an apocalyptic time when women warriors ruled Carthage.

A NIGHT OF OPERA AND MUSICAL THEATER
A concert of opera and musical theater scenes and arias in historic Boise with The Serenata Orchestra, including world premieres of opera scenes and art songs from the Composers In Residence Studio

PERFORMATIVA - VIRTUAL & LIVE INDUSTRY PANEL
A Festival intensive in Arte Scenica (language of the body) e Canto (singing) for Audition preparation with Internationally recognized artists Yuri Napoli, Director of Performing Artists at the Zeffirelli Foundation in Italy; and Andrea DelGiudice ”The Voice whisperer,” Internationally renowned soprano and New York City vocal master teacher. Our final day is “The audition” for a panel of top industry professionals.

Airfare NOT included.

TUITION

$3,200 – Hotel double room

$4,000 – Hotel single room

$2,500 – Local Boise residents (no housing or meal plan included)

Limited need-based scholarships are available.
